# What's In A Name?

"A site with your take on world events and you're calling it Shitfuckery? An appropriately low bar." An imagined response to this blog's existence. Welcome to what may be a very quiet corner of the Internet.

My intention is to provide a climate aware take on world events from a west coast Canadian perspective. Details matter, but for the most part I will be looking at events with a view of the bigger picture and ways in which events might fit together and what may motivate those possibilities.

What do I mean by a climate aware take on world events? It's somewhat akin to the economic aware perspective we expect because of course inflation creates wage pressure, which creates price pressure, which creates more inflation. The links are explained and become obvious. In the way business news looks at economic impacts of events and explains links Shitfuckery will be doing the same for the environment and especially climate. To this we will add an understanding that a small number of people are knowingly destroying the livable climate on which we all depend so as to amass more wealth than they could possibly spend. They are being enabled by governments elected on promises to do the opposite. Knowing that this tiny minority is being enabled by political elites provides a surprisingly clear lens through which to watch events in large part because it lifts the moral constraints we otherwise apply to even the worst people. "Oh surely no one would ever do such a horrible thing," is countered with "Well, they are knowingly enabling the richest of the rich to profit from killing the poor so maybe they would."

Bring your critical thinking, we will be exploring the crises of our times, what motivates them, and ways in which the various pieces may fit together and the dots connected. What better time than as we sail past 1.5C and commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with the Strait of Hormuz closed and the far right ascending to consider how events are linked and what motivates the actions taken.

Shitfuckery is an Australian and Kiwi term I first herd while watching one of Juice Media's excellent videos. It can reasonably be understood as skullduggery turned to eleven Spinal Tap style. If that doesn't register please go watch Spinal Tap.

Shitfuckery is effectively what we intend to expose as we look at how humanity got into such a situation where we are dealing with the rise of fascism at the very time we should be doing everything possible to transition away from fossil fuels to avoid losing the livable climate on which we all depend.

I do not and will not have all the answers. I will surely make mistakes, so bring your critical thinking skills while we consider the forces shaping world events and their motivations.
